The Government and businesses discussed the opportunities for Bulgaria under the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), also known as the Juncker Plan. This happened at a conference on “Results and good practices from the implementation of EFSI”, organized by Iskra Mihaylova, Chair of the European Parliament’s (EP) Committee on Regional Development with the help of the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (CEIBG). The forum was attended by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov, Minister of the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council 2018 Lilyana Pavlova, EFSI Executive Director Wilhelm Molterer and his deputy Iliyana Tsanova, as well as the CEIBG Chairman Kiril Domuschiev and the Chairman of the Bulgarian Construction Chamber (BCC) Eng. Nikolay Stankov.
“The conference is dedicated to the challenges and prospects of EFSI. It is realized with the support of the ALDE group in the EP, which carries out a clear policy of effectiveness and efficiency of the European Union budget, for support and cooperation of the businesses. We have the kind support for the forum also by the Deputy Chair of the EC for “Employment, Growth, Investments and Competitiveness” Jyrki Katainen, said Iskra Mihaylova at the opening of the forum.
“In the part of EFSI for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) Bulgaria ranks second in terms of absorption after Estonia. This is largely due to the activity of the companies in our country and to the efforts of the intermediary banks,” said Mihaylova.
