The urban wastewater treatment plant in Lukovit (UWWTP) was opened. It is part of the integrated project to improve the water sector in the city financed under OP “Environment 2007 – 2013”, and is worth over BGN 33.8 million. Contractor is union “Eco Panega” with partners “Ai Ki Es” AD, “Glavbolgarstroy” AD and “Capitol group” Ltd. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, Desislava Taneva, Minister of Agriculture and Food, Pavel Gudzherov, Deputy Minister of Environment and Water, Nikolay Nankov, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Rumen Porozhanov, Executive Director of State Fund Agriculture, Dr. Madlena Boyadzhieva, Governor of Lovech, Ivan Grancharov, Mayor of Lukovit, Cornelia Marinova, MP, Eng. Simeon Peshov, President of “Glavbolgarstroy Holding” PLC and Honorary Chairman of the Bulgarian Construction Chamber.
“The project for the water cycle of Lukovit is long-awaited. We have built 18.5 km sewage pipeline and 11 km water pipeline. The crown jewel of the project is UWWTP for 10.5 thousand people. Over 90% of the wastewater will be purified in it. Thanks to the facility we can say that again Zlatna Panega River will be clean,” said Mayor Grancharov and added that Lukovit had attracted for the programming period over BGN 98 million, which ranks it first in the region.
Later on Prime Minister Borisov attended the opening of the reconstructed town square. The site is reconstructed with funds under the Program for Rural Development 2007 – 2013 (RDP) to the amount of nearly BGN 2 million.
“Lukovit Municipality absorbed BGN 17 million under RDP,” said Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva and stressed that thanks to the efforts of Mayor Ivan Grancharov were signed seven contracts with State Fund Agriculture.
The renovation of the town square was realized under project of Measure 322 “Renovation and Development of Settlements” of RDP. The street lighting is replaced by energy efficient one and 11 playgrounds were built – two in the city and one each in the villages Bezhanovo, Belentsi, Dermantsi, Karlukovo, Petrevene, Rumyantsevo, Todorichene, Toros and Uglen. Contractor is “Adelina Style” Ltd.
