Nova Zagora – the town of change
The word that best characterizes the development of Nova Zagora in the last few years is change. Many people think that present mayor Nikolay Grozev is the most successful mayor of the town in recent years and they gave him confidence for a second term. And he really has a plan and a concept; he speaks with ambition about the future of the town and with pride about the results of the first term. One is impressed by the repaired streets and sidewalks, the pleasant pedestrian zone in the center, leading to the new building of the municipality, which is only one year. Naturally there are many things to improve, as the bus station and the train station for example. Another problem is the poor state of health care but the town has gone a long way and this shows very clearly. Investors have appeared and Nova Zagora has shops “Penny” and “Billa”. In the town at present live over 22 thousand people, as traditionally most young people in the region seek opportunities in the municipal center. On getting off the bus from Sofia I see them go home to their families but I do not see them while walking along the streets…
