Chairman of Sofia BCC Regional Office Eng. Nikolay Stankov quotes Fidel Castro:
“The outlook is hopeless, the alternative is struggle”
“As a child I dreamed of becoming a pilot. I liked airplanes. I flew as a passenger with a lot of civil aviation models and I still like it.” Thus begins the conversation with the Chairman of Sofia BCC Regional Office – Eng. Nikolay Stankov. His father is a civil engineer and engineer Stankov was brought up in the ideals of the profession. He was helping his father in various projects and after graduating from the Sofia High School of Mathematics he was admitted to the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy. The first desire of the young builder was the Faculty of Geodesy as was the advice of his father. The motive is curious – these courses give the opportunity to work outside of Bulgaria and particularly in Africa.
“The whole study is a wonderful moment in people’s lives. Unfortunately, we appreciate it later,” says philosophically now the settled man.
After graduation Nikolay Stankov started working at a construction company. A year and a half later he and his father set up a company which started to deal with repairs, renovations and small construction projects. In 1994 they re-registered it and then was born “Mramoroid-1” EOOD. “We worked primarily as contractors. After completing several construction sites, we started with entrepreneurship,” said Eng. Stankov.
