Mr. Naidenov, you recently announced that EU funds absorption under the Rural Development Program has been most successful in Bulgaria among EU countries. Can you tell more and what is the approximate number of beneficiaries? During 2011 under the Rural Development Program were paid EUR 428.8 million public funds, of which 345.5 million from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and 83.5 million – national co- financing. The payments are for about 3,500 applications under the measures from the first and third axis of the Program. Under the second axis, which includes the so-called compensatory measures – payments for less favored areas and agro ecology (measures 211, 212, 214), were made over 80 thousand authorizations. Since the implementation start of the Rural Development Program until the end of 2011 contracted funds are worth over EUR 1705 million total public funds, representing 52% of the total budget of the Rural Development Program. Under the Rural Development Program in Bulgaria until 3 January 2012 absorbed funds from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (including the advance of 7%, provided at the beginning of the programming period) are 38.60%. The number of beneficiaries is different in different axes. In general, may be indicated that the measures under axis 1, axis 3 and forestry measures under axis 2 are concluded over 11 thousand contracts on approved projects. Authorized applications under axis 2 measures, that are applied on an area (211, 212, 213, 214), are over 180 thousand.
