BREZNIK – the town of iron water

The mayor is ambitious and a man of action. He is of the people who do not want to talk about flying ideas but about a particular job done and about the actual product of it. Vasil Uzunov is the first independent mayor, elected in Breznik. He was born in the town of birches in 1969 and he wants to stay there. He is married, with one son who bears his name. He graduated from the Shumen University with the specialty “National security”. Since 1992 until his election as mayor he worked in the police system – first in the capital “Traffic police”, then in Border police. From 2004 to 2009 he served at Silistra border checkpoint. From 2009 he was at Strezimirovtsi border checkpoint. There he served until 2011 when over 2,000 inhabitants of Breznik voted him credibility and he headed the municipality. He does not want to stand behind any party. “I was chosen as independent and I want to be independent,” he said. However, he is open to representatives of any political party if they will generate good proposals for the development and prosperity of Breznik. He is willing to compromise because we are human and all sin. He does not forgive lies. It is a conscious act. “We have to change, to change our thinking, I know that it’s hard but there is no other way,” says the mayor of Breznik. He is determined to give a report to the municipal councilors every three or four months, so that elders are aware of what is happening in the municipality and there are no remarks that no one knows what is doing or that nothing is done.
