At the end of May the builder of the section to the airport will be clear
Prime Minister Boyko Borisov together with EU Council President Herman Van Rompuy and Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova cut the ribbon of the metro section from Mladost to Tsarigradsko Shose Blvd. The section of the underground railway was opened ahead of schedule. It is 2.4 km long and includes two metro stations. To the boulevard stop there is an underground parking for 1,300 cars.
“The dreams of all candidates for mayors of the city were to have buffer parkings, a metro to connect from one end to the other Sofia. People from the countryside can leave their cars at the beginning of the city and reach by public transport the city center. Now the dreams have come true. Thank you all,” said Boyko Borisov.
“This is Europe. It is a project of the people and that investment is an excellent example. Over EUR 61 million were invested in a wise manner. Another 32 thousand Sofia residents will use the metro,” said Herman Van Rompuy.
“For 22-23 minutes one will get from Lyulin to Tsarigradsko Shose Blvd. From the city center to Inter Expo Center one will travel for only 14 minutes. A total 50 new jobs in service of both stations will be opened. By the end of the year will start construction of the metro to the airport,” said Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova.
