An operating agreement for the creation of a fund for sustainable urban development of Sofia with a capital of BGN 50 million was signed at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW). The funds are under Operational Program “Regional Development” (OPRD) within JESSICA (Joint European Support for Sustainable Investment in City Areas). The document was signed by the representative of the European Investment Bank for Bulgaria Christos Kontogeorgos and the Executive Director of FLAG Fund Nadya Dankinova. The signing ceremony was attended also by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova, Sofia Municipality Mayor Yordanka Fandakova and the head of OPRD Managing Authority Denitsa Nikolova. “We start with BGN 50 million but resources in the fund could be increased. BGN 25 million is under JESSICA, and the remaining BGN 25 million will be provided by FLAG Fund. This European funding is a priority for Sofia and in addition it will support the ambitious investment program of the city and will create new jobs,” said Minister Lilyana Pavlova after the signing of the document establishing the fund.
