The BCC management met with Qatar’s Minister of Municipalities, leading construction companies presented their work
Five of the biggest Bulgarian companies presented their achievements and opportunities to work abroad to guests from Qatar. The Bulgarian delegation was led by the BCC Chairman Eng. Svetoslav Glosov and Qatar was represented by Sheikh Abdul Rahman al Thani, Minister of Municipalities and Urban Planning and principal of state company “Ashgal” – prime contractor for all projects to modernize the infrastructure of the east side, accompanied by the Ambassador of Qatar to Bulgaria HE Mohammed Ali Al Nuaimi and staff from his office.
Eng. Glosov spoke about the traditions of native companies in their activities abroad and about the functions of BCC as the body bringing together employers in the construction industry. He noted that currently Qatar has turned into a large building site and this can be seen from the airplane as visitors can observe artificial islands, gas terminals, the new city of the capital Doha.
In response, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Thani said that our experience is not strange to Qatar because their representatives have already visited Bulgaria and have seen the construction of Sofia subway.
“I hope to meet Bulgarian companies in Qatar and to find common themes in relation to infrastructure projects. We are ready to prepare a presentation in which you can become familiar with the legal framework and requirements for working in the country. We have changed the conditions of our auctions and quality is already more weighty than price in a ratio 70 to 30. However, this applies only to government projects, private projects are otherwise,” explained the Minister of Municipalities and Urban Planning.
