Monument to the Tsar Liberator to be ready in January

The Monument to the Tsar Liberator will be ready in January 2013. At the end of this year, the main figure will be returned to its place on the National Assembly Square. It is expected for the celebration of the 135th anniversary of the Liberation of Bulgaria, on 3rd March, the renovated monument to be officially opened. This was announced by Eng. Svetoslav Glosov, Chairman of BCC, at a joint press conference between the Bulgarian Construction Chamber (BCC) and Sofia Municipality. He gave detailed information about the restoration project. “Nobody willfully has allowed to restore the monument. Many months have passed of coordination procedures with various institutions before we start the real work, he added. Not a penny was given by the state or municipality. You know that money comes from the Russian foundation “Pokolenie” and the private investor knows how and where to invest. He did not want to politicize the donation, so the condition was to give it to a non-profit organization such as BCC. We have already prepared an album with Russian monuments in Pleven. But do you think that they will be supported after the big fuss about the Tsar Liberator,” said to reporters Eng. Svetoslav Glosov. He recalled that a year ago the Mayor of Sofia Municipality had asked BCC, as an organization experienced in the restoration of monuments, to raise funds for the monument on the National Assembly Square. “In the beginning it came to companies that with money or equipment would help the initiative. Later it turned out that we cannot provide the full financing of the monument. Currently it is funded by the Russian humanitarian foundation of Andrei Skotch “Pokolenie”. They were given work projects from 2007 with the respective account and building permit,” explained the BCC Chairman.
