Dr. Konstantin Trenchev, President of CL “Podkrepa”: We want the responsible for the heavy crimes in the sector to be punished

Dr. Trenchev, you insist long on urgent measures related to energy, however things escalated. What should be done now? About the happening in the country now we warned a year ago. Of course, things are connected, because the economic policy that imposed, I say, did not lead Mr. Dyankov, ultimately made incomes very small. The high bills hit citizens and the situation became intolerable. Before the press conference we wanted to show that in energy has been shaped a long chain dance at the end of which are the electricity distribution companies (EDC). It starts, however, from the producers, passes through the other units, such as NEC, and only then comes to the EDCs. We should not forget BEH, which is a totally parasitic structure. All this took people out on the street. What we offer is extremely fast, urgent measures in the energy sector. They are concrete. Proposals can be perceived by the institutions; at least such is the practice in reasonable countries. I hope that we should be heard. We propose, first, to be given a new meaning to BEH.

Along the chain we can provide data that are too disturbing and over which the competent authorities should intervene. This is a long process and we will urge it to start. The point is to take emergency measures against the facts that drove people out to the streets. Skilled decisive steps are needed. People need to get more normal prices because there is no explanation, including the 14% increase, which was announced late last year. This burst the public anger. Obviously something has happened in the system and we want to know exactly what. I think that to a large extent we know it.

Secondly, I think that an analysis of NEC is needed and separation of hydroelectric plants in separate Bulgarian hydroelectric company.

At the same time a very serious audit of the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission should be done and creation of a public council which will have rights, not the function of a fifth shrub with which nobody complies. It is necessary in the civil structure to be involved employers, syndicates and customers who will be able to see how the prices are formed. There are corruption distortions. Personally I was offered to join. The time has come when the truth should be put on the table and very serious and urgent measures should be taken. Otherwise, we will sink, things will get out of control, they will get wrong and wrong and eventually everyone will regret.
