To be united and to work hard for EU funds absorption
The BCC Chairman Eng. Svetoslav Glosov and the delegation led by him in Brussels met with the Bulgarian EU Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva and Mariana Hrischeva., member of her Cabinet in the EC. They discussed three main themes: absorption of EU funds in Bulgaria, organization of mutual work of the state and construction companies in the sphere of civil protection and building control on observance of anti-earthquake requirements. EU Commissioner Georgieva was categorical that we should be united and we should work hard in the direction of absorption of possibly maximum funds because if we cannot succeed to take the envisaged in this financial framework money in the next program period the envisaged funds for Bulgaria will be considerably less. The most important is to show capacity for absorption of resources no matter if they come from the EU, the World Bank or the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. In connection with the building of partnership between business and the state in the sphere of civil protection Commissioner Georgieva proposed the organizing of training and exchange of good European practices with EU funds. These activities with the sector participation in the person of BCC would give ideas how can be better organized civil protection in Bulgaria and can be found place for successful partnership between business and the state. EU Commissioner Georgieva’s proposal for exchange of experience and know-how holds good also for improvement of the control over construction, especially in the sphere of anti-earthquake norms. More from the Bulgarian EU Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva you can expect in her special interview in the next issue of “Stoitel” newspaper.
