Construction companies – members of BCC, took part in the recovery from the water damage in Varna, Dobrich and Veliko Tarnovo. Since the tragic night of 19 June equipment and workers under the coordination of the regional office of BCC – Varna and the central management of the Chamber have been working around the clock – in the most flood-stricken Asparuhovo quarter in the sea capital.
The regional offices of the Bulgarian Construction Chamber (BCC) keep constant contact with the management of the organization for coordination of activities in order to provide the most effective support to all regions affected by the water disaster. On 23 June was held an extraordinary meeting of the Executive Board of the Chamber.
The management of BCC praised highly the quick and effective response of regional offices and construction companies in the hardest hours after the tragedy.
The current situation in various regions of the country was analyzed as well as the aid that companies – members of BCC, may have in the upcoming process of restoring infrastructure and housing in the affected areas. The Executive Board decided to open a target account to collect funds to be used for repair works under the direction of regional offices in Varna, Veliko Tarnovo and Dobrich. The members of the Executive Board were identified who will be responsible for coordination of activities in the affected areas – Eng. Nikolay Georgiev for Veliko Tarnovo, Plamen Ivanov – for Varna and Eng. Nikolay Stankov for Dobrich. The Executive Board also decided BCC experts to actively participate in the preparation of damage assessments at the request of state authorities. The management recommended the regional chairmen to meet the mayors of the affected by the damage cities to coordinate reconstruction activities. The Chamber addressed its members in the areas, who were involved since the beginning of the emergency rescue works, to make jointly with municipal authorities protocols for authentication of the construction activities that have been done so far. The Board also decided BCC Chairman to initiate a meeting with Interior Minister Tsvetlin Yovchev – in his capacity as Chairman of the Disaster Relief Fund, in order to identify the most effective mechanisms for cooperation as well as specific procedures and deadlines for recovery of the expended corporate funds.
